(Blythewood, SC) – Retired United States Air Force Chief Master Sergeant Anthony M. Stovall is seeking a seat on the Richland School District Two Board of Trustees, bringing nearly four decades of military and public service to the race.
Stovall formally kicked off his campaign this past weekend after spending the past several weeks meeting with voters and campaigning throughout Richland Two communities, including the Blythewood area.
His campaign is built around the belief that strong schools are essential to strong communities and that School Board decisions should begin with the needs of students, teachers and families.
During his military career, Stovall served as a senior enlisted leader and retired at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, E-9, the highest enlisted rank in the Air Force. He said that experience helped shape a leadership philosophy grounded in integrity, accountability, teamwork and service.
Stovall believes those same principles are essential to effective School Board leadership, where decisions can directly affect classroom instruction, teacher retention, student safety, district finances and opportunities available to graduates.
“Disagreement is inevitable, but division is optional,” Stovall said.
His campaign emphasizes the importance of School Board members listening to different perspectives, working collaboratively and remaining focused on the district’s central mission of preparing students for successful futures.
Stovall’s priorities include student and teacher success, safe and respectful learning environments, responsible financial management and expanded career and technical education opportunities.
He supports competitive teacher compensation to help Richland Two recruit and retain qualified educators. He has also called for greater transparency, thoughtful line-item management and responsible stewardship of district resources.
Another major area of focus is expanding Career and Technology Education programs and opportunities for students to earn industry-recognized certifications. Stovall believes students should graduate prepared to pursue college, technical education, apprenticeships, military service, entrepreneurship or immediate entry into a career.
Beyond his military service, Stovall has worked as a university professor, business owner, leadership development professional and community advocate. His community involvement has included mentoring young people, supporting student scholarships and partnering with schools, churches and civic organizations.
Stovall said he is prepared to listen, collaborate, ask difficult questions and help ensure that students remain at the center of the district’s decision-making process.
His campaign message, “Strong Schools. Successful Students.”, reflects his belief that a strong public education system benefits children, families and the entire Richland Two community.
For Stovall, the campaign represents another chapter in a lifetime of service and an opportunity to invest in the next generation.

Early Voting: October 19–31, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday–Saturday; closed Sunday, October 25.
Absentee by Mail: Eligible voters must apply by 5 p.m. October 23; completed ballots must arrive by 7 p.m. November 3.
General Election: Tuesday, November 3, 2026.
