(Blythewood, SC) — A special election will be held Tuesday, July 29, 2025, for voters in the Town of Blythewood to decide on a proposed change to the town’s form of government.
The referendum will ask voters:
“Shall the Town of Blythewood change its form of government from the Mayor-Council form to the Council-Manager form?”
Voter Registration Deadline
Residents who wish to participate in the election must be registered to vote by Sunday, June 29, 2025. Voter registration applications submitted by mail will be accepted if postmarked by Monday, June 30, 2025.
Early Voting Information
Early voting will be available from Monday, July 14 through Friday, July 25, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday (closed weekends). Early voting will take place at:

Absentee Voting
Registered voters who cannot vote in person on Election Day or during early voting may request an absentee ballot. Applications for absentee ballots must be returned by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, July 18, 2025.

The Richland County Board of Voter Registration and Elections will begin examining absentee ballot return envelopes at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, July 28, 2025.
A public hearing to review provisional ballots will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at the Richland County Elections Office, 2020 Hampton St., Columbia.
